The Lord Botetourt girls will play three Blue Ridge District softball games in four days this week as they look to move up in the district standings. Botetourt comes into the week with a 3-2 record in BRD games.
The Cavaliers were scheduled to host William Byrd on Tuesday, followed by a home game with Staunton River on Thursday and a trip to William Fleming on Friday. The Cavs also played a non-district game against Hidden Valley on Monday but that was suspended by rain before it could be finished. The Cavaliers were 6-8 overall heading into that game and hoping to snap a four-game losing streak.
Last week the girls fell on back-to-back days on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday they were shut out by Cave Spring in a non-district game, 7-0. Bailey Hutchins had two hits for LB and Olivia Pierce had seven strikeouts on the mound.
On Friday in Moneta the Cavaliers lost to Staunton River, 7-3. LB got off to a good start when Abby Perkey singled and scored in the first inning but errors fueled a fifth inning rally by the Eagles, who held on to win.
Pierce pitched again and allowed just two earned runs. Maya Mougin had two hits at the top of the lineup and Perkey and Abby Booth drove in runs for the Cavaliers.
