The Lord Botetourt girls will look to finish the regular season on a high note with a busy week of softball. The Cavs were scheduled to play at Northside Tuesday followed by the conclusion of a suspended game with Hidden Valley at home Thursday and a home game with Franklin County Friday for “Senior Night.” LB was scheduled to play at Cave Spring Monday, but that was rained out.
The Cavaliers come into the week at 7-11 after accepting a forfeit from William Fleming last Friday. That technically snapped a seven-game losing streak, and the Cavs are hoping to finish the regular season strong this week with some wins on the diamond.
The Cavs played host to Staunton River last Friday and were shut out, 3-0. LB pitcher Olivia Pierce kept the Cavs in the game with five scoreless innings before the Eagles put three on the board in the sixth with a double, a sacrifice fly and a Botetourt error.
“It was disappointing but I am hoping it is a turning point in our season,” said LB coach Megan Cook.
