The Lord Botetourt volleyball team is still undefeated after seven matches. The Cavaliers beat county rival James River in Daleville last week, then beat Timberlake Christian before downing a talented Blacksburg team at LB on Monday.
Against River the Cavaliers won 25-7, 25-14 and 25-8, sweeping the season series from their Botetourt County neighbors. Miette Veldman had 15 kills while Ryann Clark had six kills and four blocks. Jordyn Kepler had 23 assists and three blocks, Taylor Robertson had five kills and six digs and Kenleigh Gunter had 11 digs.
LB had 37 kills to 17 for River. Sage Beddingfield had five kills for River and Morgan Marshall had four.
On Thursday the Cavaliers beat Timberlake Christian in three sets in a match that was added late. The score was 25-12, 25-15 and 25-20 as Veldman had 20 kills and 15 digs. Robertson had 11 kills and Kepler had 35 assists.
On Monday at home the Cavs beat a solid Blacksburg team in three, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-16. Veldman had 19 kills in this one, Robertson had eight and Kepler had 34 assists and eight digs. Gunter had nine digs and three serving aces.
With the wins LB is now 7-0 overall. The Cavs were scheduled to play at William Byrd Tuesday and they’ll be back home Thursday to host Staunton River.
James River bounced back from the loss to LB to beat Parry McCluer in three sets on Monday in Springwood, 25-13, 25-13 and 25-20. River had 31 kills to 11 for the Blues and River had 15 serving aces. Beddingfield had seven kills, Ainsley Simmons had six, Lily Wilson had five and Marshall had four kills and four aces. Michaela Hedrick had four aces as well.
Now 3-6, the Knights were scheduled to host Glenvar on Tuesday and they’ll be at Alleghany on Thursday.
