The Lord Botetourt tennis teams are on a roll, as the boys remained undefeated with three shutout wins against district foes in the past week while the girls downed two.

The boys beat William Fleming, Franklin County and Rockbridge, all by 9-0 scores and all on the road as LB does not have home courts this spring. The lineup includes Tyler Meade, Conner Tilley, Blake Lancaster, Case Deaner, Ashton Bamblett and Ridge Radtke in singles. Meade and Tilley are at number one doubles along with Lancaster and Deaner at two and the team of Bramblett and Jackson Wolfe at three.

With the wins the Cavaliers are 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Blue Ridge District.

The girls are 2-2 in the district and 2-6 overall. Last week the girls beat Fleming 9-0, as the Colonels had to forfeit two singles matches a double matches. Fleming took just five game in the four singles matches played.

Last Friday at Recreation Park in Rocky Mount the girls lost to host Franklin County, 6-3. In singles Olivia Turner won at number two and Dee Peterson won her match at number five, and LB won at second doubles.

On Monday the girls lost a heartbreaker to Rockbridge, 5-4. Rylee White and Meredith Claterbaugh won at fourth and sixth singles for LB and number one and two doubles both won, but LB came up one point short.

“Everyone played well and the scores were closer than they appear,” said coach Shannon Quinn.
