The Lord Botetourt boys and girls tennis teams both swept Staunton River in Blue Ridge District tennis last week. The boys took a 9-0 win in Moneta and the girls won by the same score at Hollins University.
Winners for the boys in singles, in order on the ladder, were Tucker Grimshaw at one, followed by Liam McCaul, Jacob Perrine, Coby Kingery, Archer Jones and Jude Roberts. Doubles winners were Grimshaw and McCaul at one, Kingery and Jones at two and Perrine and Roberts at three.
LB is 1-0 in the district with the win. A non-district match with Christiansburg was postponed last week.
The Botetourt girls got singles wins from Rachel Williams, Leah Germain, Jordan Coffey, Kaile Judge, Allison Coombe, and Laney Dennis. In doubles winners were Williams and Judge, Germain and Coffey and Coombe and Hannah Deter.
The Cavaliers are 3-1 overall after losing for the first time at Christiansburg last Thursday, 5-4. Williams and Judge won in single and the Cavs won in doubles with the teams of Germain and Coffey and Coombe and Jessica Lancenese.
Both teams were scheduled to play Northside on Tuesday. On Friday the boys will host William Byrd at Hollins and the girls play the Terriers in Vinton. Those are the last matches before next week’s spring break.
