The All-Blue Ridge District teams were recently announced and many Lord Botetourt athletes were honored, including soccer Player of the Year Briana Myers.
A senior midfielder, Myers was a key member of the Lord Botetourt girls soccer team that went undefeated in the regular season. She was one of five girls named to the All-BRD first team along with freshman forward Emma Rice, junior midfielder Mikel Johnson, junior defender Ava Brumfield and junior midfielder Ally Spangler was named to an “at large” position. Also, coach Giuseppe D’Arpa was named BRD Coach of the Year.
Second team honors in girls soccer went to sophomore Sam Hambrick-King at forward, junior Allison Kirby at midfield, junior Cadence Peters on defense and two at larger selections, juniors Leah Meacham and Darden Goode.
Botetourt had three first team selections in boys soccer, junior Dylan Salvi at forward, senior Evan Jennings on defense and junior midfielder Zach Ruhlman as an “at large” selection. Second team went to senior Arin Sparks and junior Chase Peery at forward along with junior Cole Salvi on defense.
In softball, junior Rhyann Jones was named first team as a pitcher. Seniors Hailey Deter and Halle Reese were first team outfielders and Maddie Carroll was chosen in the DP/Flex position at first team. Second teamers were junior Giana Sloan-Lebron at shortstop and senior Audrey Butler at catcher.
In baseball, senior Carson Peggins was named to the first team at third base as well as second team pitcher. Other first teamers were juniors Nathan Prince in outfield, Owen Prince at catcher and Connor Fuhrman at short. Second teamer honors went to senior Sammy Peery at second base, senior Luke Richards at first and senior Matt Oliver at both pitcher and outfield.
