Lord Botetourt High School Principal Timothy M. Bane has been reassigned to an unspecified administrative position in the county school division effective July 1, according to an announcement from Botetourt School Superintendent Dr. Tony Brads Tuesday morning.
Brads will serve as “acting” principal until a replacement is screened, selected and submitted to and approved by the Botetourt County School Board, the announcement said.
Brads would not say what precipitated the reassignment other than “it was determined we need new leadership at the building.” Brads said the reassignment had nothing to do with any violation of law or school policy, and called it a personnel matter.
Bane was an assistant principal at LBHS when he succeeded Alan Brenner in July 2009. Brenner had been principal at LBHS for 11 years.
Brads said the School Board has regularly scheduled meetings on July 14 and August 11 when it can name a new principal at the high school, noting, however, a special “called” meeting for personnel appointments may be necessary to ensure timely transition for a new leadership team, the staff and students at LBHS.
