When a horse is in need, who do you call?
Our caring Botetourt residents know that the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, located in Franklin County, is one resource for a horse whose owner can no longer care for a member of our equine family. Therefore, the Botetourt County Horseman’s Association, headed by past-president Jessica Dahlgren, the Botetourt Cloverbud 4-H Horse Group, and Debbie Mooty collected feed, supplies and two round bales of hay and on December 17 made the trip to RVHR with donations in tow! (Many thanks to Jessica for getting up on a Saturday morning and hauling supplies up.)
Corn oil, feed, cans of corn and applesauce were some of the supplies left for the facility to use with the equine residents. While there, we toured the facility and guess what happened next? Two of the cutest ponies were adopted and now live in Botetourt County at Belle Haven Estates in Buchanan. So, a good time was had by all!
Many thanks to all who donated and please remember all of our furry friends when considering a donation of time, money or resources.
Debbie Mooty, President
