Encourages viewing B.R.A.C.E. website for children’s library books’ content

I am responding to Alex Stewart’s letter attacking the Botetourt Residents Against Child Exploitation (B.R.A.C.E.), a citizens group of which I am a member.

Mr. Stewart touts the rights of parents who accept the pornographic children’s library books.  He inadvertently rejects the rights of parents on the opposing side – those who raise moral objections to these materials. This issue needs to be settled by informing our citizens at large as to the content and images within these library books.

Only B.R.A.C.E supporters have been bold enough to discuss and show examples of these books. If you are either unaware of this issue or are skeptical about the serious nature of these books, please check out:  www.WeAreBrace.org  and then go to the “The Books” section. Take some time to examine the images and read the text excerpts that are right there on the website from 25 of these questionable books. The target age group varies, but in some cases is as low as age 2 to 5.

After reviewing, would you characterize these materials as merely “sex education” as Mr. Stewart did? To the contrary, this material encourages sexual interest and/or perversion in young children, with an obvious emphasis on the LGBTQ agenda. This cannot be categorized as “sex education,” but to use the modern vernacular, it is “grooming” which robs young children of their innocence.

I am not, nor have I ever been a librarian. I am simply a citizen of Botetourt County, having lived here for over 30 years. We homeschooled our three boys and spent a good deal of time in the Botetourt libraries. In the ’90s and early 2000s we enjoyed visiting these libraries, which were without obscene books for children.

The Botetourt Residents Against Child Exploitation is a group of morally concerned citizens that includes parents and grandparents – with many children and grandchildren. Now judge for yourself.  Please visit the website to see the true nature of these books.
