Thanks for commemoration in Godwin Cemetery
Editor:
On behalf of Godwin Cemetery, I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Pappas and the local Boy Scouts for putting out flags in the cemetery to commemorate the lives of the many members of the armed services who are buried here.
The effect is beautiful and your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Provide proof, not generalities about bias
Editor:
In the June 23 edition of the Letters to the Editor, there is a heading “Writer says county is permeated with bias.” I would ask the gentleman who wrote the article to provide examples of said bias. Generalities serve no purpose when talking about racial bias.
He also takes a shot at our Sheriff Ward, asking if he knows who George Floyd was! As George Floyd was a con man, thief, and drug abuser, I’m pretty sure that our sheriff knows who he was. Then to insinuate that our Botetourt County deputies would act in the same fashion as Derek Chauvin did is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful. I wish things would have gone differently with George Floyd. I would prefer that he was alive and in prison where he deserved to be.
For this gentleman to make such insinuations about our county Sheriff’s Department I think that proof, not generalities, should be given and I will watch for such proof in future publications.
