Thanks for help locating lost dog
We offer a huge thank you to all the kind employees and customers of the Daleville Kroger who worked to help us find our lost dog late Saturday, May 14. So many caring people wandered the parking lot calling and offering treats to try to coax our beloved dog to safety.
Fortunately, we found her hiding in the bushes near the store and got her home safe and sound. Thank you, thank you!

Mill Creek Cemetery available to all
Mill Creek Cemetery is located on US Route 11 adjacent to Mill Creek Baptist Church about six miles south of Troutville. Our cemetery is open to all people and all faiths. Some people seem to think that only members of Mill Creek Baptist can be buried there, but that is not the case. We have people of many faiths and denominations buried there.
For anyone not familiar with Mill Creek Cemetery, let me tell you that it is located on a small plateau that is almost totally flat. There are no hills to climb or descend to arrive at any plot. There is a full 360-degree view of the mountains from the cemetery. It is a beautiful location.
We have many spaces available at several price points. They are: Sections where ground level markers are required – $600 per plot for the first eight plots next to either side of the center driveway, and $500 per plot for all others in these sections; and sections where vertical markers are permitted – $1,000 per plot.
Contacts for the cemetery are: John Caldwell, 540-992-2171; Lewis Sifford, 540-330-6182; and Randy Deel, 540-425-5749.

Fishing Rodeo is successful fundraiser thanks to all supporters
The Eighth Annual Fishing Rodeo was held on Saturday, May 7 at Steve Thrasher’s pond in Springwood. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our community, whether you donated, attended, volunteered, and/or bought tickets.
This year’s event took place for Reagan Repair of Rockbridge County, who was prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome and a congenital heart defect called atrioventricular septal defect. She had open heart surgery last month to repair her heart defect. With the help of so many selfless people, we were able to raise around $10,600.
Local businesses are our biggest supporters year after year for the Fishing Rodeo and we cannot say enough about them and their generosity. These local businesses are Cattleman’s Market, Lexington Moose Lodge, SanMarCo, Country Breeze, Adams Construction, Buchanan Moose Lodge, Bank of Botetourt, Natural Bridge Safari Park, Natural Bridge Zoo, Dinosaur Kingdom, New Freedom Farm, Foot of the Mountain Café, Stylin’ Shed, MECS, Good Times, North Star Restaurant, Middle Creek Campground, Fisher Auto Parts, Natural Bridge Animal Hospital, Brugh’s Mill Country Store, Jeter’s Farm, Hull’s Drive-In, C&M Maintenance, James River Equipment, and AAA Entertainment.
