BEA Executive Committee endorses Wilson, Weddle
Editor:
Voting for School Board members is one of the most important events a person can do for children and for the future of the community. Qualities needed for those candidates are: 1) love for and involvement with children and 2) love for and involvement with the community.
The Botetourt Education Association Executive Committee has carefully considered the current School Board candidates. Among them, Jenny Wilson, who is running for the Buchanan District, stands out. She is an active member of the community who has served on the Buchanan PTA and the Botetourt County PTA. Additionally, she has served on Botetourt Public Schools Parent Superintendent Advisory Council, which has provided her with the opportunity to learn how Botetourt Public Schools work. Her presence on that council has also provided her with the opportunity to establish a good working relationship with Superintendent Russ.
Jenny has taken time and consideration before deciding to run for office. She did not make a snap judgment; instead, she formally declared her run for office, following the accepted standard procedures. She considered the pros and cons, knowing that School Board positions were becoming heated, and yet she has accepted the challenge of serving our community and our children. For all of these reasons and more, Jenny Wilson is the right person to serve on the Botetourt School Board, and the Botetourt Education Association Executive Committee encourages voters from the Buchanan District to cast their votes for Jenny Wilson.
Anna Weddle, the current chair of the School Board, is a candidate who serves Botetourt well. She listens to parents and educators as she works to bring fiscal responsibility and transparency to the schools. Her care and concern for the well-being of her home community is recognized and respected by the current board who elected her chair of the School Board. She built an excellent relationship with the Board of Supervisors, which benefits our community and our schools. She served as a part of the board who hired an outstanding superintendent to lead our staff and she works with him to ensure quality education for all students.
Anna’s heart is invested in her home community. Her children are part of Botetourt County schools, but she serves for more than her immediate family. She serves – and volunteers in the schools – for all the children and their parents. She knows the value of strong schools; she knows that quality schools build a stellar community; she knows that powerful schools and communities attract businesses which continue the cycle.
Anna works tirelessly to meet the needs of our community; and yet, she sees more needs and she is committed to continuing her mission of meeting those needs. Because of her dedication and experience, Anna Weddle is the best candidate for the Amsterdam District. Botetourt Education Association Executive Committee endorses her and asks the Amsterdam District to vote again for Anna Weddle this year.

Two Terry McAuliffes?
Editor:
There must be two Terry McAuliffes – one a hustler and one running for governor of Virginia. One, the hustler, has connections to the Chinese communist government. This one Terry McAuliffe in 2009, with Chinese foreign investors, tried to get the people of Virginia to invest in a company called Green Tech EV automotive manufacturing. This McAuliffe wanted Virginia to bid on bringing the company to Virginia.
McAuliffe promised to bring high-paying jobs. The plant would build small electrical vehicles in Virginia and export those vehicles back to China at a lower price than the Chinese could produce them. Virginia turned that Terry McAuliffe down.
The hustler McAuliffe went to Tunica County, Mississippi, and promised 1,500 high-paying jobs if they would bid on the Green Tech EV automotive manufacturing plant. This Terry McAuliffe promised to bring a $1 billion automotive plant to Tunica County, one of the poorest in the state of Mississippi. Mississippi took McAuliffe’s bait and hook. The state of Mississippi is till trying to get $6.9 million from this McAuliffe, a 25 percent owner of Green Tech, and his Chinese partners. Thirty-two Chinese foreign investors sued Terry McAuliffe for fraud and misrepresentation in U.S. courts.
One Terry McAuliffe made a deal with Chinese investors in 2016 to bring jobs to Appomattox, Va. Like the deal in Tunica County, Mississippi, that is still looking for repayment of $6.9 million from one Terry McAuliffe, the people of Virginia are still looking for the repayment of $1.4 million from McAuliffe. Maybe one of McAuliffe’s Chinese partners will stand up and tell the truth as to who got the $1.4 million.
All of this information is online for everyone to read. This is only a tip of information on Chinese connections to one of two McAuliffes.

Appreciates Buchanan librarians
Editor:
I wish to thank our wonderful Buchanan librarians, led by Janet Buttram. They have always made me feel very welcome when I walk in the door, no matter how busy they are. They take my requests for books and find them on the shelves if they are in our library, or they immediately put out a request within the county and area system to find and request each book for me.
Janet even sent to Old Dominion University for a book I requested, and because it did not come in before I left on an extended trip to Iowa, she sent it to me by mail, going above and beyond her job description.
Our library has always been a warm, comfortable community center that is a Buchanan treasure, as are each of the ladies that work there.

Endorses Campbell for School Board
Editor:
I write this to endorse Brandy Campbell for the Buchanan District representative on the Botetourt County School Board.
In light of current affairs, it’s plain to see the agenda of the far left in federal/state/local government in regards to our public school systems.
As a veteran, retired law enforcement officer, pastor and parent of a child in Botetourt schools, I find these agendas both ungodly and disturbing to say the least.
The school’s role for our children is to teach them reading, writing, history, science, arithmetic, etc.
What we now see is the “powers that be” in Richmond and elsewhere in the State Board of Education desiring to indoctrinate the minds of our youth with lies and false ideologies that will only serve as a negative impact on their learning and also on their personal and social lives as well.
The school’s role is to teach our children, not indoctrinate them with false narratives.
Most of the current board members claim to stand against these issues but their claims are transparent and are easily refuted through their actions as representatives, whereas their loyalty is not to their perspective communities, but to those who wish to destroy our educational institutions from within.
Brandy Campbell stands against these immoral issues as she has children in the Botetourt school system.
I know her to be a loving mother and wife with high Christian standards.
Her desire is to represent us as parents to the State Board of Education, not to represent the State Board of Education to us.
She wants what is morally and ethically best for this community and for the children who are enrolled in our schools.
Unlike most of the current board members, Brandy is easily reached and more than willing to hear our concerns in order to better be our advocate.
She is opposed to Critical Race Theory, the 1619 Project and the transgender programs that are infiltrating our schools.
She wants ALL students to be treated safely and fairly.
It is not the school’s role to raise our children or to teach them what values and/or morals to embrace.
That is our job as parents.
Brandy wishes to see the power given back to the parents and for the schools to teach unadulterated academics instead of politically motivated ideologies.
Brandy’s entry into the race didn’t allow her time to get her name on the ballot so she is running as a write-in candidate. There will be sample ballots at the polls that show how to properly vote for her so that every vote counts.
If you desire a representative whose platform cannot be bought, who will work for you and be a voice to improve our school system, who will be a firm advocate for our children’s education, please vote for Brandy Campbell as write-in for Botetourt County School Board in the Buchanan District.

Endorses Weddle for School Board
Editor:
My name is Bryan Snare. I am the father of three children, two currently enrolled in BCPS. I live in the Amsterdam district of Botetourt County. I am writing in full support of Anna L. Weddle for our School Board representative in Botetourt. My entire career has been devoted to education. This year is the 12th year I have taught at a local college. I have been the head of the mathematics department for 11 of those years. During my time in education, I have learned that the four most important things in education are teamwork, commitment, passion, and knowledge. When considering our choices in Amsterdam, I believe that Anna Weddle is the CLEAR choice for our community.
Anna has proven her ability to work as a team member throughout some of the most challenging times in academics in modern history! She has worked with other members of the board and school administrators to create valuable resources for our children, teachers, and community.
Anna has proven she is committed to educational excellence in Botetourt County. She has skin in the game! She attended BCPS, her husband attended BCPS, and her children currently attend BCPS. During her term, she has worked hard to truly effect good change in our local schools.
For years, even before being a member of the school board, I have seen Anna’s passion for children, education, and community. She has always been involved in our community, education, and children. Through her volunteerism at various events, she has clearly shown her passion.
Finally, Anna has proven her knowledge. Knowledge of the system, knowledge of the laws, knowledge of our teachers, knowledge of our administrators, general knowledge of education, and most importantly, knowledge of our children.
If Anna has not proven all of these things to you, I encourage you to look up her Facebook page “Anna L. Weddle for School Board”. There, you will find proof of her willingness to works as a team, her commitment, her passion, and her vast knowledge. If you look in the same place for her opponent, you’ll find the absence of all of those things.
Amsterdam, the choice is clear. Join me in supporting Anna L. Weddle for School Board!
Sincerely,
Bryan R. Snare
