Secretary of Agriculture tours Botetourt
Editor:
I want to share with our community the pride that I felt September 18 as I accompanied our State Secretary of Agriculture Bettina Ring on a tour of Botetourt County. Stops on this tour included the Botetourt Farmers Market, the Beaver Dam Farm Sunflower Festival and the New Freedom Farm Festival. Each event was incredibly well run, meaningful, enjoyable and demonstrated the incredible community in which we live. Thanks to the organizers of these events and to the many volunteers who work to make them happen.
So much of what is great about Botetourt County was evident Saturday – I could not have been more humbled and moved by what I saw. Many thanks to Delegate Terry Austin for arranging the visit, and to Secretary Ring for spending her day learning about Botetourt agriculture and supporting our community. Also, thanks to Board of Supervisors member Dr. Richard Bailey, Botetourt Agriculture Extension Agent Kate Lawrence and Delegate Austin’s Legislative Assistant Matt Miller for helping to make the tour enjoyable and informative. Let us not forget the great things that can be accomplished by working together.
We have all, no doubt, noticed the campaign signs springing up all over our county roads indicating that election season is in full swing. I am honored to be running for the Buchanan Board of Supervisors seat, and hope to meet many of you all during this campaign season. I love talking to the Buchanan and Botetourt County citizens and am happy to share with you the work that we have accomplished during the past nine months on the board. Please contact me through the campaign email, amy4buchanan@gmail.com, or visit my Facebook page, Amy Stinnett White for Botetourt County Supervisor, Buchanan District.
Our county and our state face numerous challenges on many levels today. Strong, informed leadership is vital, and I encourage each of you to talk with the candidates that are running for office at every level. And most important please take this opportunity to become involved and informed yourself. I welcome your conversation, questions, concerns and ideas. We must work together to move our community forward and make sure the people of Buchanan and Botetourt County are well represented. I will represent the Buchanan District to the absolute best of my ability and will do so in a transparent and open way. My message is clear – I support and love this community and believe in its potential. Thank you for this opportunity, and I hope to hear from you soon.
