Leffel thanks Alderson for two terms of service
Editor:
I wish to sincerely thank John Alderson for his service of two terms on the Botetourt County School Board as the Fincastle District representative. When Mr. Alderson announced his candidacy the first time in 2011, he said, “Education is my number one priority.” If you have had the pleasure of discussing the school system with John then you have heard this theme passionately expressed in every conversation.
The examples of his fine service can be summarized into the most recent vast accomplishment of building the new Colonial Elementary School. As a member of both the School Board and the Economic Development Authority, John was instrumental in facilitating proper planning and budget negotiations. He combined his honest communication, business knowledge and ability to mediate solutions to secure an acceptable school design and construction plan to keep the project on track.
If I am elected as the Fincastle District representative I will work hard to continue John’s legacy of conservative values, hard work and a dedication to provide our students the best education possible. I, too, believe that preparing for the future means investing in teachers and programs which give every child a chance to pursue success in the career path of their choice.
