Think about your vote
Editor:
I am a fully grown adult with average intelligence. My family fought in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. My entire family has lived in and loved the United States.
oday, I am concerned about our way of life. We have worked hard to come to the place where the country I know and love today does not rip children from their parents and put them in cages. My country does not spew hateful venomous words for no reason. The people in my country help each other in times of need. I realize that there are bullies and that there will always be bullies. I understand that we are by no means perfect.
In search of that “More Perfect Union” we still have serious problems that need a lot of work. Just think, we have the pandemic that has claimed over 200,000 American lives, the wild fires on a rampage across thousands of miles in our country, and storms on our coasts with flooding and wind damage; we have social unrest, attacks on our voting rights, our postal service, and our Supreme Court Justice vacancy.
With a heavy heart for our American way of life I sometimes go outside and look around at the beautiful bodies of water, the lush hills and valleys, and the bright blue sky our God has entrusted to us, then I realize how we are allowing it to be squandered. When I get past the news reports and listen, really listen, to the words that come out of the mouth of our President I hear him being just flat out degrading to anyone who does not agree with him in every way. That includes our many communities of faith, our military, our medical and environment experts, our economist, and our human rights and gun rights advocates.
It is said the Democrats will take our guns. We had a Democrat President for eight years and we still have our guns.
It is said that the Democrats will ruin the economy. When the Democrats started their last eight years in office the economy was in ruin and when they left office it was booming back and unemployment was as low as it had been in years.
It is said that the Democrats do not care about human life. What about “pre-existing conditions? What about insurance for everyone who needs and wants it? Women’s rights, abortion, and human rights for all are still huge issues that need a lot of work.
It is said that Democrats don’t care about God because churches were asked not to open during the pandemic. Christians respect and revere our faith and understand that there are 10 Commandments, not just one or two. Caring for others is worth the sacrifice of wearing a mask, observing social distancing, and being cautious while at church, work and school. Social distancing, wearing masks, and hand washing have been proven to be the best way, right now, to at least slow the spread of this terrible virus.
Some ask what Biden did in all of his years of service. He has been there serving his country, loving his family, and giving everyday to help others. Now I ask what has the President done, in the past almost four years, to address and solve any of our problems? Are we better now than we were when he took office?
I see no love or compassion in the eyes or words of our current President. I see him follow the words of dictators and con men over the words of America’s own military and statesmen. I see him using men and women for his own profit and pleasure, then tossing them aside like bits of trash. I see him encouraging the destruction of animals, land, water and air. We all need to look past all of the lies, all of the hateful statements, and all of the fear tactics. Our country is suffering and there is a heavy fog over the eyes of those who blindly follow the President without question. History tells us what happens to nations that do that.
I, for one, refuse to live in fear of the so-called caravans from the south, the mobs roaming and looting our suburban neighbors, and the economy and unemployment falling apart. I know that my fellow Americans are willing and able to shoulder the task ahead and “Build Back Better.” We need someone who cares, someone who will tell us the truth no matter how hard that may be. We need someone who can from day one step in and begin to do the things that will start to pull us out of the quagmire we have fallen into. For me, that someone is Joe Biden. He is a man of compassion, faith, and a deep understanding of our human needs. He is a gentle loving man with a heart of determination and grit that will take up the task and get the hard “stuff” done. No whining, no passing the blame, no boasting, and no kicking the can down the road. He will stand with America against foreign intrusion into our lives and always fight tooth and nail for justice. Joe Biden has my vote.
