The upcoming Kiwanis Recycling Day on May 22, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., at Lord Botetourt High School, features a joint effort between the club and Botetourt County Library.
The library’s “1,000 Things to Know Before Kindergarten” program encourages parents to read, write, sing and play with their children. These activities develop young minds like exercise develops muscles. The library provides ideas, lends materials and awards a free book for each 100 activities completed.
The Kiwanis Club focuses all of its charitable efforts toward children. Recycling project manager John Plenge and President Ed Lynch have announced that all of the money donated at the recycling event will go to this worthwhile library program.
The next meeting of the club will be on Tuesday, May 12 at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in attending may get in touch with Lynch at elynch@hollins.edu.
