Library Buzz for Dec. 20 edition

Holiday Hours

All library branches will close at noon on Friday, December 22, and will reopen for normal hours on Tuesday, December 26.

 

Fincastle Library closed January 2-20 

The Fincastle branch will be closed temporarily for renovations.  Thank you for your patience as we make improvements to our facility!

 

Little Explorers

Tuesdays 10:30am, Fincastle

Toddlers explore the world around them through educational and soft play toys while parents and caregivers get grown-up social time.

 

StoryTime

Fridays, 10:30am, Buchanan

Enjoy books, songs, and tactile activities that build literacy, motor, and social skills. Best for preschoolers.

 

STEM Club

Garden Club

Dig into all aspects of gardening with guidance from local experts and/or hands-on projects. January project – Teacup Birdfeeders.

 

Outdoor Book Club

Tue, Jan 9, 11:30am, Troutville Town Park

Join a leisurely 20-minute group walk around Troutville Town Park, then discuss what you’re reading and share book recommendations over warm (or cool) beverages at One Love Coffee across the street (group discount provided).

 

Eclectic Readers

Murder Hole Cave

Sat, Jan 6, 11am, Buchanan

Learn about the history and science of Murder Hole Cave, a local natural formation, as well as caves’ importance, safety, and conservation. Start with a short documentary, then enjoy a Q&A session with Marian McConnell, property owner, educator, and spelunking guide. Copies of McConnell’s book Murder Hole: Catawba Murder Hole Cave will be available for purchase and author signing.
