All library branches will be closed on Friday, May 3, for staff development.

 

Summer Reading Challenge

May 13 – June 30

Calling kids age 0-12 to “Dive into Reading” with our ocean-themed challenge! Earn brag tags and prizes by reading books of your choice, and participate in fun activities and events all summer long.

 

Dive Into Reading Kickoff

Fri, May 17, 6-8pm, Buchanan Elementary School

Enjoy a wet/dry slide, bubbles, face painting, obstacle courses, battleship water pong, crafts, and other games and activities. Bring a towel; you might get wet! Concessions available, with community partners and vendors onsite. Stay after sunset to watch the movie “Moana” with Botetourt County Parks & Recreation.

 

Make Your Own Keychain

Sat, May 11, 10am-2pm (drop-in), Buchanan

Enjoy a story about a shark and seahorse, then create a shark or seahorse keychain to decorate your backpack.

 

Art Lab

Ocean Shirt Tie Dye – all ages

Wed, May 15, 3:30pm, Fincastle

Whale Bubble Wrap Art – ages 2-6

Sat, May 18, 11am, Buchanan

Dive into hands-on, book-based, ocean-themed crafts!
