Action is few and far between for the two county high school sports teams as they take time off for Christmas vacation.
The only thing scheduled for this week for Lord Botetourt is a girls basketball game at Abingdon on Saturday. A jayvee game is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the varsity to follow. That’s the last event of the year before a wrestling tournament on January 2.
At James River, the only event scheduled before the New Year rings in is a girls basketball game next Monday, December 30, when the Cave Spring girls visit. The jayvees will play at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
Most of last week’s events were too late for early Christmas deadlines. On December 17, the Lord Botetourt boys basketball team hosted James River and took a 51-42 win over the Knights. Events too late for this week will be updated in next week’s Fincastle Herald sports section.
