The Botetourt Department of Fire & EMS conducted its second live-fire exercises for the year this past Thursday through Saturday at the Roanoke Valley Regional Fire/EMS Training Center.
Career and volunteer staff joined together to refresh their skills and prepare personnel for real-life situations through various scenarios. Each member of the team was assigned to a unit and worked through multiple scenarios each day. After completing each scenario, the team came together to discuss their tasks and how they could improve. The scenarios were replicated over each of the three days to allow for as many volunteer and career staff members as possible to attend and participate.
Botetourt Fire & EMS holds these trainings quarterly in addition to other specialized classes so they can continue to provide excellent service to the community. A special thanks to Deputy Chief Jeff Powell, Captain of Training Tyler Flora, and Firefighter Nathan Herlocker for leading the training and developing the scenarios.
