A Botetourt County resident recently independently published her first book that is now available on Amazon.
In August, Dawn K. Ostrom of Troutville released her children’s book with illustrations, “Under the Green Tree,” a story about a young girl, Emily, and her imagination.
According to the story’s synopsis, a creature-filled tree sits in front of Emily’s house. One of those creatures is named Prim, who Emily believes is a fairy, while Emily’s mother believes it to be a firefly welcoming the summer season. Emily’s mom understands Emily’s wild imagination. However, Emily thinks her new friend Prim is a fairy, but who really is Prim?
“We all have imaginations,” Ostrom said during a recent interview. “Sometimes we forget to use them. We get on with life and we forget that we have one. I hope that kids, when they’re reading [my book], live out their own imaginations.”
