Local Lions assist with Diabetes Walk

On Sunday, April 27, the Daleville-Fincastle Lions Club assisted with the Greater Blue Ridge Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes Walk at the Salem Red Sox Stadium. Pictured, from left, are Daleville-Fincastle Lions Mike Jackson and Lowell Skelton, who staffed Rest Stop #1 of the Walk. Also, Lion Josh Werle and family participated by walking in the Walk.

Breakthrough T1D, formerly JDRF, is leading the charge to prevent, treat and ultimately cure Type 1 Diabetes

Daleville-Fincastle Lions also support the annual local “Camp Too Sweet” for Type 1 Diabetes Children at Camp Bethel in Fincastle.

In addition to diabetes, other activities supported by the Daleville-Fincastle Lions are Pediatric Cancer, Botetourt Food Bank, Vision Screening, Hearing Screening of Preschool Children, Troutville Volunteer Fire Department, Eyeglasses Recycling, Eyeglasses Assistance, Botetourt “Character Counts” program, Leader Dogs for the Blind and several local charities.
