The Botetourt Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) delivered 250 Thanksgiving turkeys to four Botetourt food pantries and the Eagle Rock Ruritan Club last week.
It’s the 15th year the Longbeards have participated in the NWTF Turkey Hunters Care program that encourages chapters to help families at Thanksgiving. Longbeards members posed for a picture with Botetourt Food Pantry Co-Chair Martha Rodgers during the delivery. From left are Sandy Pauley, Richard Pauley, Rodgers, Ned Honts, Billy Booze and Gerald Austin. Other food pantries participating are Troutville Baptist Food Pantry, Springwood Baptist Food Pantry and Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) Food Pantry. The Longbeards’ annual banquet, raffles and Longaberger Bingo raise funds for the project that has been recognized consistently as the top Turkey Hunters Care program in state by the Virginia Chapter NWTF.
