The Lord Botetourt boys scored in four events to take 13th among 35 schools at the Virginia High School League Class 3 state track meet last week. The Abingdon boys and Heritage girls were team winners at Liberty University in Lynchburg.

Botetourt’s best finish was a fourth place by Dmetri Toliver in the shot put. DJ put the shot 44’4” to beat the fifth place heave by half an inch. The winning put was 47’ 1.75” by Sam Boyer of Lafayette.

Dylan Knick took fifth place in the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.27. KJ Bratton scored with an eighth place finish in the 55 dash at 6.77.

Knick, Bratton, Cade Lang and Joey Isaacs took a sixth place in the 4×200 with Jonah Clark serving as the alternate. Their time was 1:34.3.

Maddie Malue represented the Cavaliers in the girls meet and finished seventh in the 55 hurdles. She ran a time of 9.31.

That wrapped up the indoor season for the Cavaliers. The first outdoor meet is scheduled for April 6 at Staunton River.
