The Lord Botetourt boys soccer team took a 4-3-2 record to Northside on Tuesday hoping to add one more win to their record before opening Region 3D tournament play. The Cavaliers were the fourth seed in the region prior to that game.

The top six teams in the region get a first round bye, with the seven through 10 teams playing this Saturday. LB is all but assured of being in that top six and likely higher, as the Cavs are the top Class 3 team in the Blue Ridge District. Only Class 6 Franklin County and Class 5 William Fleming were ahead of the Cavs coming into the week.

Botetourt tied Franklin County in Daleville last Friday, 2-2, after losing to the Eagles 3-0 the first time around. Zach Ruhlman had both goals for LB.

The Cavs also had a tough 2-1 loss to Staunton River in Moneta last week. Dylan Salvi scored the only goal for the Cavs.

If the Cavaliers remain in the top four in the region after this week they’ll have a home game on Monday. The tournament is single elimination and only the winner advances to the state this year.
