The Lord Botetourt tennis teams are hoping to get some matches in this week as they dodge the rain and play all their matches on the road this season.

The boys are scheduled to play at William Byrd on Tuesday and at Northside on Thursday at Walrond Park in Roanoke County. LB was scheduled to play at Rockbridge last week in a non-district match but that ended up being postponed.

The girls have just one match this week, against Northside Friday at Walrond Park. Last week the girls got a match in against Byrd in Vinton and took a 6-3 loss to the Terriers.

“There was some good wins and close matches,” said LB coach Shannon Quinn. “We started out with doubles but couldn’t quite pull out a win on any of them.”

The first doubles team of Anna Frittman and Olivia Turner put up a good fight but lost an 8-6 pro set. Singles were also eight game sets and number five Dee Peterson and number six Meredith Claterbaugh both won their matches. Dee had a very close match, pulling out a win at 9-7, and Meredith, a freshman, picked up her first high school win with an 8-5 victory.
