The Lord Botetourt baseball team will have two Blue Ridge District games this week, including a home matchup with Northside on Thursday.
The Cavaliers were at William Byrd for a big game on Tuesday, but results were too late for publication. The Cavaliers took a 4-2 overall record into that game after dropping a 5-4 district game with Franklin County in Daleville last Friday.
Botetourt had the lead twice in that game. The Cavaliers put two on the board in the bottom of the first. Connor Fuhrman singled and Owen Prince walked and both eventually scored on errors.
The Eagles tied the game in the top of the third, but Botetourt answered with two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Again Fuhrman reached on a hit and Prince followed with a walk. Connor would score on a Jakari Nicely sacrifice fly and Prince came in on fielders’ choice RBI by Colin Sell.
That’s how the score stood into the fifth, when the Eagles put two on the board to tie the game. Franklin County then scored a single run in the sixth and it stood up as LB failed to answer.
Jack Vargo pitched the first five innings and Garrett Green pitched the last two, allowing one run and taking the loss. Botetourt had just three hits, two by Fuhrman and one by Seth Richards.
Next Monday, April 18, the Cavaliers visit North Cross.
