Lorraine Stultz Blount went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 6, 2021, at the age of 94. She was received into her eternal home after a long journey with Dementia.
Lorraine was one of the sweetest and most kindhearted persons you would ever meet. She loved the Lord, and always looked forward to attending church. She served her church by teaching Sunday School and helping with the youth programs while her girls were growing up. Her normal daily routine included reading a daily devotion and the day always began and ended in prayer. She was founded deeply in her faith in Jesus Christ. Lorraine was a Loving Wife, Mother, Sister and Grandmother (she was affectionately known as MawMaw by her grandchildren). She was a lifelong member at Oakland Baptist Church. She graduated from William Fleming High School in 1946. After she and Joe married, and their children arrived, she stayed at home with them until they went to school. She then went to work at Starmount Clinic as their Office Manager/Bookkeeper for Dr. A. Lynn Beavers, Dr. Frank M. Johnson and Dr. Dan Hoback. She retired in 1987 after 23 years of employment at the Clinic. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling, sewing, and keeping her grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending the meetings of the Golden Colonels and getting together with her girlfriends in the “Rose Club.”
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Obbie T. and Ollie Caviness Stultz; her husband, Joseph (Joe) Crouch Blount; daughter, Joyce Blount; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Ester Stultz; beloved brother-in-law, Douglas (Doug) Overman.
Left behind to cherish her memory are daughter, Sharon Blount Miller and husband Chuck Miller; sister, Mae Overman; grandchildren, Megan Williams, Lindsay Bill, Kelly Truax, Amanda Bill and wife Jenna, and Leo Bill; great-grandchildren, Dameon, Jackson, Gracie and Charlee Anne.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan.
Mrs. Blount’s funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Chuck Miller (her son-in-law) officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service in Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan. The Family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Carrington Cottages Memory Care Facility and Carrington Place, SNF, for the exceptional care and expertise given, and the love and kindness extended, to our Precious Mother, Sister and Grandmother during her time of residency at these two facilities, respectively.
