Paula Murrah Love, 83, of Orlando, Fla., passed away from natural causes on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Brookdale Nursing Home in Orlando.
She was a part-time employee of The Fincastle Herald as a typist for almost 10 years. She also worked as a librarian at the Fincastle Public Library for almost 15 years, where she touched many lives in the Botetourt community.
Paula was born on March 15, 1942 in Orlando, Fla., second daughter to her late parents, Charles Paul Murrah and Lois Lucille (Harrison) Murrah. She grew up in Orlando and graduated from Boone High School there in 1960. She also attended Florida State University and was an avid life-long “Noles” fan.
In Jacksonville, Fla., in 1975, she married Dennis Love of Eagle Rock. They lived in Salem, Va., from 1978 to 1980. And in 1980, the family moved to a small farm south of Eagle Rock, where they raised their son, James Love, who graduated from James River High School in 1987. Paula was a strong supporter of youth sports and could often be heard cheering for the football and baseball teams of Eagle Rock, Botetourt Intermediate (now CAMS), and James River High. Many may remember her from Forest Grove Baptist Church, Eagle Rock, where she regularly attended and sang in the choir.
After her son moved away from Eagle Rock to begin a 20-year career in the Air Force, Paula returned to Orlando, Fla., in 1998, where she lived until her passing.
May Paula be remembered as the strong, kind, and gracious soul who was loved by all who knew her; and one who would always go out of her way to support and help those in need.
She is survived by her son, James Love, and his wife, Tracy Love, along with her four grandchildren, who all live in Colorado Springs, Colo. She is also survived by her older sister, Nancy Murrah Humphreys, and her husband, Jerry Humphreys of Orlando. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Linda Murrah Lenn, of Orlando.
A funeral service for Paula will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Christ Church of Orlando, 2200 S. Orange Avenue, Orlando, with Pastor Paul Valo officiating.
