Despite the steady light snow that fell on December 9, Historic Fincastle Inc. had a very festive and successful Holiday Home Tour and Marketplace. Thanks to all you who came out and enjoyed the tour in spite of the weather. We feel the snow added to the festive atmosphere!
The homes on tour were beautiful and very special. Many thanks to all the owners for the tremendous effort required to prepare their beautiful properties for six hours of public touring. Homes on tour included: the Israel Christian home, Clear Dawn, Broad Oaks, Neighbors Hill and Rustic Lodge. All of these were wonderful and a pride to Botetourt! Also, thanks to the Botetourt County Historical Society for having the museum open all day for visitors.
Fincastle Baptist church, once again, graciously allowed the Marketplace to take place in their excellent facility. It is always welcoming to shoppers and ticket buyers and a perfect location for over 40 vendors to display and sell their goods. We would like to give special thanks to Bill Divers for his tremendous effort and hard work and also to Pastor Kevin Cummings for allowing our continued use of the church.
Our board members worked hard to make this tour successful. Thanks to Lynne Bolton, Cindy Bailey, Karen Beasley, Peggy Bolton, Carol Brenner, Gretchen Greiner, Melodye Hollingsworth, Mary Catherine Layman, Sarah Meadows, Lissy Merenda, Marcia Neighbors, Karen Shriver, Kip Burton and Alan Brenner for all your work. Special thanks to members Pam Thacker, Meg and Bob Omer, Ruth Schwendeman, Bruce Bulmer, Hal Bailey, Jim Reynolds and Dan Beasley for giving your expert help!
Lastly, we want to thank our generous sponsors: The Bank of Fincastle, Bank of Botetourt and Digital Image Printing. Without your support this community event would not be possible.
We hope all will look forward to a festival in September 2018, celebrating HFI’s 50th anniversary and, of course, to our Holiday Tour once again in December.
