Edwin “Curtis” McCaleb, 85, of 588 Locust Bottom Road, Eagle Rock, died Monday, July 1, 2024 at his residence. He will be loved forever and greatly missed.
Edwin was born on October 30, 1938 in Eagle Rock to the late James and Harriet Fridley McCaleb. He grew up in Sophia, W.Va. until he and his cousin, Jack Fridley, joined the United States Air Force in 1957, and they served until 1961. Edwin then moved back to Virginia and married the late Deloris Jean McCaleb. He retired from Gala Industries after 30 years of serving as a machinist. Curtis enjoyed reading books, riding his 4-wheeler, and feeding the birds.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Carlene Parent; and a brother in-law, Lannie Ballard.
He is survived by a daughter, Sherry Shaw and husband Terry of Wirtz; two sons, Brian McCaleb and Michael McCaleb, both of Eagle Rock; a sister, Loretta Ballard of Roanoke; a brother in-law, Larry Parent of W.Va,; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 12 noon in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Rev. Terry Shaw officiating. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery, Eagle Rock.
