The annual membership meeting of the Botetourt County Historical Society Inc. will be held on Thursday, April 27 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Old District Courtroom in Fincastle. The courtroom is located in the building just next door to the Botetourt County Historical Museum. All members are invited to attend.
Ed McCoy, editor of The Fincastle Herald and author of the newly released book, “Botetourt County and the War Between the States” will be the guest speaker at the event.
Prior to the annual meeting a reception and book signing will be held in the Botetourt County Historical Museum from 5-7 pm. Refreshments will be served and the museum will be open for visitation. The magazine-style book is a compilation of articles about Botetourt County’s involvement in the Civil War that appeared in The Fincastle Herald from April 2011-April 2015 during the war’s sesquicentennial.
Books will be available for purchase at the pre-sale price of $25 and McCoy will be signing them. After April 30, the price of the book will increase to $30.
