Buchanan’s Third Fridays Block Party & Cruise In is this Friday, June 16 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in downtown Buchanan.

This month the Buchanan Art Series sponsored by Bank of Botetourt presents a free concert with Melissa and the Growlers who are known for bringing their funk, blues and soul tunes.

Melissa & the Growlers sports some of the most talented and versatile working musicians in Virginia. Covering experience in almost every musical genre, the eight members of the group are seasoned professionals who more than know how to play — they know how to perform, according to reviews of their performances.

This award-winning band features Melissa Mesko, lead vocalist, guitarist Brian Mesko, Dane Anderson on bass, Bryant Cass on drums, Glen Allen Holmes on keyboard, Bobby Read on saxophone, Ashley Spice on trumpet and Robert Mott on trombone.

Visitors can also take advantage of extended hours being offered by the town’s restaurants and shops, plus they can stroll through the Community Market and Beer Garden. Visitors can also enter with food from one of the restaurants into the Beer Garden.
