Michael David Baker, 71, of Buchanan, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 19, 2021 at his home following a long illness.
Mike was born in Cloverdale on June 13, 1950 and lived in the area all of his life. He was the son of the late Edgar C. and Mary Kyle Baker.
Mike was Executive Vice-President of Cavalier Equipment and Kav Kan Disposal. He was a member and deacon of Daleville Church of the Brethren; enjoyed the outdoors and his Harley Davidson.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brothers, Edgar Kyle Baker and Patrick O’Brian Baker. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rebecca Shorter Baker; sons, Brian (Angela) Baker of Blue Ridge, and Christopher (Jodi) Baker of Hague, Va.; daughters, Jolane Flanagan of Roanoke, and Debra (Jason) Overbay of Troutville; grandchildren, Jenna Flanagan, Mariah (Austin) Simmons, Linsey Baker, Faith Overbay, and Noell Overbay; and a great-grandson, Kolton Simmons.

A memorial service honoring Mike’s life was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 24 at Daleville Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. David Shumate officiating. The family received friends in the fellowship hall at the church one hour prior to the service.
