The Lord Botetourt and James River cross country teams competed in the Clash with the Titans meet Saturday. The event included 14 teams and was hosted by Hidden Valley High School.
Will Miller of James River was the individual winner in the boys’ race with a time of 16:52. The Knights were fourth overall as a team as the Patriots Pacers Home School team won the team title, followed by Harrisonburg High, Lord Botetourt, River and Radford to round out the top five.
River’s next best was Will Fowler with a ninth place finish at 18:20. Also scoring for the Knights were Dalton Simmons(32), Zach Hodges(34) and Camden Powell(38).
Maxwell Klimczak led LB to a third place finish with a time of 18:43, finishing 12th individually. Also scoring for the Cavalies were Bryson Cook(16), Benny Ford(21), Connor H ayes(29) and Jack Buchanan(33).
Host Hidden Valley won the girls’ team title, follow by the home school team, Harrisonburg, Radford and Norfolk Collegiate. Lord Botetourt was seventh and James River’s girls were 11th.
Sofia Hernandez led the LB girls with a time of 24:13. Also scoring for the Cavs were Balor Harold(42), Brooklyn Hornback944), Brielle Jackson(46) and Lauren Duff(50).
River’s fastest girl was Grace Montgomery, who finished 49th in 25:21. Also scoring were Tessa Jones(56), Allison McCullough(57), Meaghan Hix(88) and Daisy Montgomery(96).
This Saturday the Knights will be running in the Rockbridge Classic at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington. Lord Botetourt will be running in the “Cougar Classic” at Randolph Park in Dublin.
“Coach Stritesky and I are very proud of our performance,” said LB coach Robert Sullivan. “We will keep working hard as the season goes. Our team is learning what we are striving to do in each race.”
