Rising James River High senior Georgia Miller competed against some of the top 17-18 year-old girls in Virginia at the Virginia State Junior Mountain Bike Championship held at Waid Park in Rocky Mount in June and took first place.
The course, fittingly named “The Punchy Pig,” lived up to its reputation with short, intense climbs and steep descents that tested every rider’s endurance and technical skill. This race was part of the U.S. Mountain Bike Junior Series and an officially sanctioned USA Cycling event, hosted by Racing in the Woods, a 13-race mountain biking series across Virginia and North Carolina.
