Buchanan Elementary School was honored to welcome Madison Whitbeck, Miss Virginia 2025, for a special visit last week. Madison is the great-niece of Tim and Danette Heinlein, officers in the Buchanan Lions Club. The Lions Club, known for its dedication to community service, helped connect Principal Catey Moretz with the Miss Virginia School Tour program, which promotes healthy choices and encourages students to discover their unique talents.

Madison, a 20-year-old commercial music major from Leesburg, Va., is a sophomore at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. Her community service initiative, “Arts for All,” focuses on making arts education more accessible to students everywhere.

During her presentation at Buchanan Elementary, Madison engaged students in an energetic and interactive discussion about making healthy choices. She then shifted the focus to discovering personal talents, using music to inspire perseverance and creativity. Madison sang with the students, encouraging them to participate and keep rhythm as she emphasized the importance of trying and never giving up.

At the conclusion of the program, Madison greeted each student individually as they left the auditorium and finished her visit with a tour of the school.
