The Lord Botetourt boys tennis team won their first two matches while the girls lost one as the season opened last week.
The boys opened with a 9-0 win over Glenvar as number two Connor Tilley and number five Ashton Bramblett picked up their first career wins. Tyler Meade won 10-4 at number one.
On Friday the boys beat Salem, 7-2, on the courts at the Salem Civic Center. Singles winners for LB were Meade, Case Deanes at three, Ridge Radtke at four, Bramblett at five and Jackson Wolfe at six. Meade and Blake Lancaster won at number one doubles and Radtke and Wolfe combined to win at three.
The girls opened with a 9-0 loss to the Highlanders at Glenvar. All matches were eight-game sets and the second doubles went to Glenvar in a tie-breaker.
“The singles matches were closer than they appear, with all the matches having a lot of deuce points and some long rallies,” said coach Shannon Quinn.
