The Lord Botetourt girls finished 14th and the boys were 20th at the Virginia High School League Class 3 state swim meet last week. Western Albemarle swept both the girls and boys team championships at the Swim RVA facility in Richmond.
Max Mizuba had the best finish for LB, setting a new school record in the 100 backstroke. Max swam a time of 52.12 to finish third in the state. He also took fifth in the 200 individual medley in 1:57.02.
For the girls, Hannah Mizuba was ninth in the 50 free in 25.25 and 10th in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.78. Julia Misicko was 10th in the 500 free in 5:22.48 and 11th in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.18. Olivia Nicely was 17th in the 100 free.
In the relays, Botetourt’s 400 freestyle team of Misicko, Analise Buyalos, Nicely and Mizuba finished sixth in 3:49.87. The 200 medley team of Mizuba, Anna Harris, Misico and Nicely was 13th in 1:58.96.
