Rachel Lynn Hutton Mooneyham, 73, of Bedford went to be with her Lord and spend the most beautiful Christmas on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
Born on Valentine’s Day in 1951, she was the last surviving daughter of all her siblings of the late Staley Rodgers and Ola Perdue Hutton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wayne Mooneyham.
Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law (Rachel’s best friend), Eddie and Angie Mooneyham; daughter and special friend, Sharon Hylton and Landon Spivey; Nana’s grandchildren, Abbey Mooneyham and Jonathan Akers, Autumn Amos and husband, Alex, and Ivy Crocker and Ethan; great-granddaughter, Everleigh Akers; special friend, Norris Rader; her fur baby, Annie May; numerous friends and family whom she loved dearly and too many to name.
She was a member of Faith Life Baptist Church, loved Valentine’s Day and Christmas, spending time with her family, and could make you laugh at any given moment with her jokes and comments. “Watch Me!,” she would say to any doctor or anyone else who told her she couldn’t do the things she used to do, even down to her last “moments” turning them into hours as her family sat by her side urging her on to Heaven to be with Leonard.
Visitation was held from 12-1 p.m. on Monday, December 30, with Memorial Services at 1 p.m. in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastors Jason Ellis and Roger McKinney officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com or 540-254-3000.
