Mount Joy Road in Buchanan will be closed between US 11 and Long Run Road October 17-19 (weather permitting) while the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) replaces the bridge over Looney Creek.
The work is being done because of a recent inspection that dropped the weight limit to 5 tons, VDOT decided to close the road to replace the bridge with a new concrete slab to keep the weight limit up.
Traffic accessing Mount Joy Road during the closure can use Long Run from US 11 south of Buchanan.
