Lorraine Muncey, 73, went home to meet her Lord on August 20, 2019, following a brief illness.

She was born in McDowell County, W.Va., and settled in New Castle to raise her family and make memories for the last 45 years. Lorraine was always a woman of God who went out of her way to take care of all the people around her, friends and strangers alike. She loved her family and was always at the center of every gathering.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Victoria Roberts; sisters, Ellen Adams, Helen Justice, Edith Blankenship, Katherine Taylor, Opal Bowles; and brothers, Everett Roberts, Roscoe Roberts, and Boyd Roberts.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Tom Muncey, and her children, Reba Spradlin  wife to Kevin; Melessia “Lisa” Ledford, wife to Howard; Brian Muncey, husband to Tammy; Tommy James “T.J.” Muncey,  partner to Gina;  grandchildren, Joshua (Kacy) Ledford, Victoria Applegate (Ryan), Bri-anna Martin (L.B.), Kelsie Muncey (Mark), Zachary Muncey (Montana), Eliza Muncey, Jeremy Spradlin (Jamie), Damian Spradlin (Katie), and Jamie Neff (Chris); great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Neff, Edmund and Felicity Martin, and Olivia Applegate; and her siblings, Mattie Shortridge , Geneva Cooper, Ed Roberts and Clarence Roberts; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

A special thanks to all of the caregivers who were dedicated to loving and caring for Lorraine.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 23 at Church of God of Prophecy, 1 Academy Street, Fincastle with Pastor Peggy Brown officiating.  Burial was in Huffman Memorial Park in New Castle. The family received friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.rader-funeralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Craig County Rescue Squad, 258 Paint Bank Road, New Castle, 24127.
