Natural Bridge State Park will celebrate National Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 18 with the opening of the Base Camp discovery area and several hikes for all skill levels.
Starting at 11 a.m., a ranger will lead a short hike under Natural Bridge itself and discuss some of the stories surrounding the formation, including the legacies of Jefferson and Washington at the park. At 2 p.m., a ranger will lead a moderate 1.5-mile hike on Buck Hill Trail to talk about the forests and trees at the park, and how they’ve changed over the years. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water.
Natural Bridge State Park is located at 6477 South Lee Highway, Natural Bridge. Educational programs are free to the public unless otherwise advertised. Admission will apply for programs under the bridge. For more information, contact the park at (540) 291-1330.
