New Beginnings Assembly of God has voted in the Rev. Steven P. Tremblay as the new pastor. The annual business meeting was held February 26, and the church membership voted unanimously to accept him as the new leader of the assembly.
He was born June 8, 1967, in Berlin, N.H., and received his early education at Gorham Christian Academy in Berlin. He attended the University of Valley Forge, an Assemblies of God-affiliated university in Pennsylvania, and then completed his pastoral studies through Berean College in Springfield, Mo.
Tremblay received his call to the ministry as a teenager, and became youth pastor of the Berlin Assembly of God in New Hampshire from 1987 to 1989. He served as assistant pastor of Guilford Assembly of God in Guilford, Maine, from 1989 through 2000.
Tremblay and his family relocated to Virginia in October 2019, and he became the senior pastor of Living Word Assembly of God in Covington. He served there until October 2019. During his pastorship at Living Word, his faith and leadership saw the church’s membership triple. Church debt was eliminated, and the pastor oversaw the building of a debt-free major addition to the church. He also ministered monthly at the Merryfield Assisted Living facility and at the Brian Center Rehab and Nursing Home in Low Moor.
Between 2019 and today, Tremblay has been guest speaker several times at different churches, including a 10-month stint at Edgemont Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Covington. He was on the ministerial staff as well as the worship team at Life Chapel Assembly of God in Lexington, where he and his family had membership.
Tremblay is married to the former Angela Gayle Cundiff from Botetourt County. They have six mostly grown children, two grandchildren and two more on the way.
The pastor has been employed by the Alleghany County Public School System for 13 years, and is also an associate of Food Lion in Covington. Angie works for Covington Chiropractic and Massage Therapy.
Sunday School starts at 10 a.m., and worship begins at 11. Beginning in April, there will be Children’s Church during the worship service. Wednesday night Bible study begins at 6:30. The church is located at 1317 Narrow Passage Road in Buchanan. All are invited to attend any and all services.
