Last Wednesday, the Botetourt County Department of Fire & EMS celebrated putting the new Tanker 2 in service at the Troutville Volunteer Fire Department. Members of the department and community leaders joined guests to welcome the new apparatus into the fleet.
The station’s previous tanker was 32 years old. The new model is a Pierce Freightliner automatic transmission that has a capacity of 3,000 gallons of water. This tanker has the same capabilities as the tanker placed at Read Mountain. The department shared in a recent social media post that it is “thankful for new equipment to better serve the community.”
