Billy Lee Newcomb, 86, of Eagle Rock, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Iva Newcomb; brother, Warner Newcomb; and sisters, Madeline and Otis Gray Newcomb and Lorene Newcomb Scott.
He was a life member of Eagle Rock Fire and Rescue and a faithful employee of Eagle Rock Funeral Home, later the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, for many years after he retired from Thompson Dairy. Billy was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He loved farming, was an avid diner at Maw & Paw’s Diner, all sports, and traveling to Gatlinburg, Tenn.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nelda Fleeta Newcomb; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Gary Simpson; daughter, Linda Wyatt; grandchildren, Amanda and Jeremy Bennington, Lee and Karmen Simpson, Heather Bennett and Travis Smith; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kendall, Cole, Tory, Zoey, and Logan; and brother and sister-in-law, Otmer and Rosemary Newcomb.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Ronk and the Rev. Robert McRae officiating.
