[SUBMITTED PHOTO]Noah Nicely, 14, of Roanoke killed this 117-pound black bear in late December in the Jefferson National Forest in Arcadia. He was hunting with his cousin, Preston Gladfelter of Buchanan. Noah’s aunt, Elsie Griffin, said Noah and Preston had been following the male bear for about a week before successfully shooting it. Noah has been bear hunting for about a year.
