At a recent meeting of the New River Valley Regional Commission, the Commission elected officers for the upcoming year.


Member-at-Large, Mr. Michael Maslaney, Floyd County
Vice-Chair, Mr. Michael Harvey, Montgomery County
Mr. Joe Carpenter, Radford University

The officers are Chair, Mr. Joe Carpenter, Radford University; Vice-Chair, Mr. Michael Harvey, Montgomery County; Treasurer, Mr. Leon Law, Giles County; Member-at-Large, Mr. Michael Maslaney, Floyd County; Past Chair, Mr. Kevin Sullivan, Virginia Tech.

About New River Valley Regional Commission

The New River Valley Regional Commission is one of 21 planning districts in Virginia whose commissions are chartered under Virginia law. The organization encompasses the counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski, and the City of Radford. The purpose of the Regional Commission is to promote regional cooperation, to coordinate the activities and policies of member local governments, and to provide planning assistance to members. The Commission Board of Directors is comprised of an elected official from each member government and a citizen appointee for members with more than 3,500 in population. Both Virginia Tech and Radford University are members of the Commission.
