BOOZE, Dr. George W.
Dr. George W. Booze, 78, of Kingsport, Tenn. passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 1, 2018. He was surrounded by those he loved, having lived a life full of service to his patients and community.
George was born in Roanoke and grew up in Buchanan. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden Sydney and received his medical degree from The University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville. He interned at The University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa and was a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force, Plattsburg, N.Y. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Endocrinology, at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was an instructor in Medicine at Vanderbilt University and lectured to medical students at Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tenn.. He began Private Practice of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology in Kingsport in January, 1975, with Indian Path Brookside Medical Group. He was a founding member of the Kingsport Diabetes Association, and a Charter Member of The American Society of Clinical Endocrinologists. He remained active as a community volunteer, and served as an Elder and member of First Presbyterian Church. After 35 years at Brookside, he proudly served the American Veterans in Mountain Home, Tenn. from 2010 until present.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Webster E. and Anna Alphin Booze, and a brother, Webster E. Booze Jr.
George is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judith; his son, Michael William Booze of Carrboro, N.C.; his daughter, Leanna Booze Renfro (David) and precious grandson, William David Renfro of Little Rock, Ark.; sister Rebecca Wampler (Frank) of Springfield, N.J.; brother, Charles E. Booze (Margaret) of Marion, Pa.; Kitty Sue Booze of Buchanan; sister-in-law, Catherine Leake Luna (John) of Fort Madison, Iowa; and brother-in-law, Michael J. Leake (Barbara) of Richardson, Texas.
A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sharon Amstutz officiating. The family received friends at the church following the service. A private graveside service will be held in Buchanan at a later date.

MANSPILE, Nellie B.
Nellie Mae Bowyer Manspile, 99, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018.
Nellie was born in Botetourt County on July 9, 1919 and was one of six daughters to Everett and Maggie Bowyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings and her husband, James W. Manspile.
Nellie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Brenda Manspile of Buchanan; grandson, James L. (Nicole) Manspile; three great-grandchildren, Cody, Katelyn, and Kara Manspile, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service honoring her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 20 in Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan with Preacher Leonard Sullivan officiating. There will be no visitation.

OBERG, Bonnie L.
Bonnie Lee Oberg, 67, of Fincastle, died Saturday, September 8, 2018 at her home.
Bonnie was born March 21, 1951 in Roanoke and lived in Fincastle all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Carl Leo and Hallis Mae Thornhill Lee.
Bonnie was a day care provider for many years and was a member of Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Oberg; brother, Carl Lee Jr., and brother-in-law, William “Bill” Davis. She is survived by her son, Todd Oberg of Fincastle; daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Brian Wilson of Troutville; grandchildren, Bri Wilson, Jarrett Wilson, Chase Oberg, and Haleigh Oberg; sister, Shirley Davis of Fincastle; brothers and sister-in-law, Donnie and Diane Lee of Fincastle, and Larry Lee of Manassas.
A memorial service honoring Bonnie’s life was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 15 at Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren, 3732 Breckinridge Mill Road, Fincastle. Her family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
