KING, Melinda H.
Melinda H. King, of Clifton Forge, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2017 to spend Christmas with her parents, Clayton “Rudy” and Isobel “Issie” Hambrick, who preceded her in death.
Melinda was born January 9, 1957 in Clifton Forge. She graduated from James River High School in 1975. She lived most of her life in Eagle Rock but had lived the past few years at the Scott Hill Retirement Community where she made many friends, especially her “6th Floor family.”
She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Snedegar and husband, Ray of Covington; son, Christian King and wife, Tiffany of Buchanan; brothers, Clayton Hambrick of Lenox, Mass.; Larry Hambrick and wife, Nancy of Beckley, W.Va.; sister, Diane Sexton and husband, Kenny of Buchanan; grandchildren, Benjamin, Rachel, and Rebekah Snedegar; Eli and Kennedy King; Ethan and Sydni Bunch; her fur babies, Willow and Peyton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We are left to cherish the memory of Melinda, Mama, Sister, and Nana. We will remember the fun times of swimming in the pool, “walking up town” to get a Dr. Pepper (in glass bottles), making “Russian Tea” and her favorite red velvet birthday cake with fluffy frosting.
We will always remember Melinda having fun at the beach, walking for miles in the sun and sand to get an even tan, or visiting the tanning bed because it rained all week of vacation and she couldn’t go home without a little color. She used to love going to Roanoke Express hockey games. No matter where she went she loved spending time with family and friends.
Her children and grandchildren will always remember her laughing at their shenanigans and coloring pictures with them and how much she loved them. She loved their school plays and concerts, and was proud of every accomplishment. Her most favorite thing to do was brag on her family.
The family received friends in the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, with a memorial service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alleghany Human Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, 24426. Online condolences may be made at www.botetourtfuneralhome.com.
